The story behind the truck
Two families, one table, and a story that traveled all the way to Michigan.
01
The Lopez family
Dolores, Texas → Michigan
Atanacio and Minerva Lopez worked wherever work could be found—on farms and the railroad—before making their way to Michigan in the 1950s. They built a big family around hard work, humor, cooking, and feeding whoever needed a plate.
02
The Garcia family
Jalisco, Mexico → Michigan
Emilio and Micaela Garcia traveled north, found railroad work, and settled in Michigan in the early 1950s. Their story carries the same steady ingredients: sacrifice, laughter, family pride, and a hand in raising the next generation.
03
Together, LoCias
LOpez + GarCIAS
LoCias joins the two family names and honors the people who made this possible. Cookin’ with Beans carries that history forward with good company, food, and a simple promise to every guest: we made this for you.
Cookin’ for a crowd
Good food shows up for the big stuff.
Cookin’ with Beans is available for catering and private events. Tell Tommy what you’re planning, when it’s happening, and about how many people are coming.
